Pilates based exercise for those looking for a gentle introduction to physical activity

Classes catering for different abilities and needs run by John Rignell, a qualified and fully insured Pilates teacher. He has experience and qualifications in teaching those, who, for whatever reason, are cautious about physical activity but keen to get started.

What class is for me?

Seated on line via zoom – this class is for beginners and those who do not wish to exercise standing up. It is exclusively seated and involves a variety of exercises designed to build strength, increase flexibility and improve coordination without causing undue fatigue.

Wednesday and Thursday

Chair based on line via zoom – this is a class for the more confident and experienced exerciser. There is also a face to face option for this class the details of which are below. The sessions build on the skills learnt in the seated class. It includes additional exercises that involve standing and working on balance.

Wednesday and Thursday

Mat work on line via zoom – this is a class for those who are looking for a more conventional Pilates class. Whilst gentle in content, you do need to be confident about getting down on to the floor (and up again!)

Wednesday and Thursday

Classes take place  either in a face to face group or on line via zoom. The on line classes will break for Easter on March 31st and resume on April 21st . Please use the get in touch button to reserve a space.

John runs a friendly, relaxed class for people looking for a gentle introduction to physical activity. If you find getting up from a chair more difficult than you used to, if the idea of going to a gym does not appeal or if you need to resort to scissors to open a bag of crisps, you may find these Pilates based exercises helpful. No need to hunt out those leotards or running shorts,  just bring some enthusiasm and wear comfortable clothes. He promises never to shout at you for leaving your PE kit at home.

Use the contact page to get in touch with John. He will then send you further details about how to log in etc.

The zoom classes are free. Participants are welcome to make a donation to their chosen charity in lieu of payment if they wish to do so.
