Pilates based exercise for those looking for a gentle introduction to physical activity
Seated, chair based and mat classes catering for different abilities and needs run by John Rignell, a qualified and fully insured Pilates teacher. He has experience and qualifications in teaching those, who, for whatever reason, are cautious about physical activity but keen to get started.
What class is for me?
Chair based: On line via zoom and face to face at Cornerstone Community Centre, Church Road, Hove, BN3 2FL. This is a class for those who would prefer not to get down on to the floor. In addition to working on strength and mobility, we will also be looking at balance and coordination.
Chair based/Seated: On line via zoom This is a class for both those who would prefer to exercise sitting down and those who are happy to stand. Exercises are layered to suit everyone’s needs and there is ample opportunity to progress through the layers at a pace that feels right for you.
Mat work: On line via zoom and face to face at Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton, BN1 1AF. This is a class for anyone interested in a more conventional Pilates session. Whilst gentle in content, you do need to be confident about getting down on to the floor (and up again!). Please bring your own yoga mat or towel to lie on for this class.
Classes take place via zoom and face to face (numbers limited) at Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton, BN1 1AF from Wednesday, January 12th and at Cornerstone Community Centre from Thursday from January 13th. The rooms we are using are either on the ground floor or accessible by stair lift. Please use the get in touch button to reserve a space and find out more.
John runs a friendly, relaxed class for people looking for a gentle introduction to physical activity. If you find getting up from a chair more difficult than you used to, if the idea of going to a gym does not appeal or if you need to resort to scissors to open a bag of crisps, you may find these Pilates based exercises helpful. No need to hunt out those leotards or running shorts, just bring some enthusiasm and wear comfortable clothes. He promises never to shout at you for leaving your PE kit at home.
Use the contact page to get in touch with John. He will then send you further details about how to log in etc.
HOW MUCH IS IT?
Face to face classes are £3 a session to cover the cost of the room. Participants are welcome to make a donation to Meeting House funds.
